Sacramento-Governor Gavin Newsom today announced the following appointments:
Sacramento’s Kimberly Ratledge, 47, has been appointed Deputy Director of Legislation and Communications for the Department of Rehabilitation, California. Rutledge has been the Adult Protection Services Program Liaison at the California Department of Social Services since 2019 and was responsible for the Adult Programs Policy and Quality Assurance Branch from 2016 to 2019. She has held several positions at the United Indoor Workers of America, AFSCME Local 3930. From 2012 to 2016, she includes budget and policy analysts and legislative aides. Rutledge was an independent policy consultant to the California Welfare Directors Association from 2011 to 2012. She was a Sweeney Graduate Intern on Disability Policy at the National Academy of Social Insurance in 2011. Rutledge has been a graduate policy intern at the Community Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities since 2010. She was a graduate clinical social work intern at the OPICA Adult Day Program and Counseling Center from 2009 to 2010. Rutledge was a newscopy editor and designer for Sacramento Bee from 2005 to 2009. She is a member of Rutledge National Academy. Social Insurance and American University Women’s Association. She holds a master’s degree in social welfare from the University of California, Los Angeles. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the reward is $ 136,872. Rutledge is a Democrat.
West Sacramento’s Area Gallardo, 54, has been appointed Deputy Director of Legislative and Government Affairs for the California Department of Medical Access Information. Gallardo has been Director of Government Affairs for the California Behavioral Health Directors Association since 2019. From 2017 to 2019, he was Director of Policy Research for the Insure the Uninsured Project. Gallardo was Executive Director of Government Relations and Program Oversight of the Alameda Alliance. Healthy from 2011 to 2017. He was Director of Government Affairs for the California Primary Care Association from 1998 to 2011. She is a member of the California Bar Association. Gallardo holds a PhD in Law from the University of California, Los Angeles, Faculty of Law. This position does not require Senate confirmation and her reward is $ 147,084. Gallardo is a Democrat.
Mayra Vega, 37, from Woodland, has been appointed Deputy Director of Communications and Planning for the California Healthcare Access Information Department. Vega has been Labcorp’s Regional Business Development Executive since 2021. She has been Mayor of Woodland since 2022 and has been attending the Woodland City Council since 2020. Vega was Director of Strategy and Business Development for Satter Health from 2019 to 2021. She was Director of Business Development at Dignity Health from 2017 to 2019. Vega was the Managing Director of Adventist Health from 2011 to 2017. She was a marketing and sales specialist at Diageo Plc. From 2003 to 2011. She is a member of the Woodland Community College Foundation Committee and the Rotary Club of Luna Vista. Vega holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Sonoma State University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and her reward is $ 142,716. Vega is a Democrat.
Sacramento’s Taryn Smith-Kerr, 54, has been appointed Strategic Initiative and Program Advisor to the California Department of Development Services. Smith Car has been a special consultant for the Development Services Division since 2021. She was Chief and Chief Consultant to the California Senate Welfare Commission from 2015 to 2021. Smith Car has held several positions in the California Senate. She surveyed from 2008 to 2015, including a policy consultant and deputy director. She was an executive officer of the State Optometry Commission from 2003 to 2008. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the reward is $ 151,800. Smith Carr is a Democrat.
