Bodybuilder and versatile man Joe McKee officially reaches the £ 900 deadlift milestone.. On April 16, 2022, competitors at the IFBB Pro League Men’s Open completed their lift at their destination in Dallas, Texas. McKee’s new PR is arguably one of the heaviest deadlifts ever achieved by professional bodybuilders.
“It wasn’t the cleanest, but I told you and myself I’m going to do it, and I did exactly that,” McKee wrote in the video caption. “Looking in the middle of the lift, I see that I didn’t shake my head because of suspicion. I said I would drop it, but that wouldn’t have happened without the fight.”
At the bottom of the post’s caption, McKee dedicates a new PR to the late Cedric McMillan. Cedric McMillan was reported dead on April 12, 2022. Shortly after the news was reported, McKee revealed a series of messages McMillan sent to him. He is a heavy lift, but warns him to “be careful” and “gain weight and gain weight”. That way, his body is better supported to move such a heavy weight.
“I thank it, Big Bro,” McKee replied to McMillan. “I’m going to aim for the goal with a deadlift, and then I’ll lose an extremely heavy weight.”
McKee wore a lifting strap and belt to complete the pull and shook violently in the second half of the lift. McKee’s deadlift wouldn’t have been counted in powerlifting competitions, but due to hitching it would have been a green light at the Strongman show.
On his way to his monumental goal, McKee shared various milestones along the way. On January 15, 2022, he pulled £ 800 for the triple. The set was soon shared by ESPN on their own Instagram post.
On February 21, 2022, McKee posted another video of a £ 870 top lift. He revealed in the post that Rift was his personal record at the time. In less than two months, he added another £ 30 to the lift.
There is no archive or record book for bodybuilders to lift heavy weights, but McKee could be the first IFBB Pro League bodybuilder to pull £ 900. McKee refers to the legendary Ronnie Coleman in his post — “900 pounds solid” — he is known for both his bodybuilding success and heavy gym lifts. Coleman deadlifted £ 800 to each of the two personnel and crouched.
Coincidentally, McKee works with former Coleman coach Chad Nichols in preparing for a bodybuilding show. For his recent intense off-season training, he praised strength coach Josh Brian for helping to achieve a massive lift.
There is no official word about when McKee’s next contest will be at the time of writing this article. If he wants to qualify for Mr. Olympia in 2022, scheduled for December 16-18 in Las Vegas, Nevada, he must win the show or rank high in several shows.
