What is the definition of skin type? smoothness? complexion? elastic? hydration?
Beauty standards in different cultures differ like day and night, but we all agree that maintaining beauty can be a daunting task.
In today’s world, both men and women feel pressure to express themselves in a certain way due to the influence of social media and reality TV culture.
How skin quality relates to different parts of the body
External factors such as UV rays, air pollution, the weather, and even the type of skin care you use can affect the quality of your skin. In traditional Chinese medicine, it is not about how much makeup a person wears. We believe that everything that happens in the body manifests itself externally, on the skin.
Therefore, it is imperative that internal systems continue to function properly.
beauty comes from within
For example, if the lungs do not contain enough water, the skin and hair will not receive enough nutrients, creating a chain reaction of nutritional deficiencies in other organs. It travels to the lungs before reaching the hair.
Another important factor for healthy skin is what you put in your body. Traditional Chinese medicine focuses on maintaining the balance of qi, blood, and internal organs. When your inner balance is out of whack, food therapy should be part of your daily self-care regimen to restore the qi of your internal systems and organs.
Five yin organs and six yang organs
In traditional Chinese medicine, the human lungs control the skin and hair. It is linked with the unit of “yin five organs six yang”. The five yin represent the heart, liver, spleen, lungs and kidneys. Six yang means stomach, large intestine, small intestine, bladder, gallbladder, and Sanjiao. Sanjiao has no Western equivalent. However, it consists of three parts of him: above the diaphragm, upper abdomen, and lower abdomen.
Thus, when the heart is overheated, the liver, spleen, stomach, and lungs are affected before the skin.
