Can you lose weight by changing your diet?
Weight gain is more than just a nuisance because it causes more harm inside the body. Weight gain causes the body to accumulate fat, one of the major risk factors for heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and many other health complications. You shouldn’t start off with a tight gym routine or extreme diets. Some people can start by following healthy eating habits.
Health Shots reached out to Hari Lakshmi, a consultant nutritionist/nutritionist at The Motherhood Hospital in Chennai, to share some healthy eating habits everyone should follow, especially those trying to lose weight.
“You can start your weight loss journey by changing your diet,” Lakshmi says. “Honestly, this works for a lot of people. Starting a healthy diet will do wonders for you.”
Here are six eating habits you should incorporate into your daily routine for weight loss.
1. Eliminate Meal Distractions
A study by Food Quality and Preference found that people who listened to music on headphones while eating consumed significantly more of the exact same food than those who didn’t jam. Therefore, if you want to lose weight, you should turn off the screen while eating. “People who are not distracted while eating are believed to chew their food more and burn calories,” says Lakshmi.

3. Say no to refined carbs
According to Lakshmi, “Cutting sugar and starches from your diet will be a good start. You can replace refined carbs with whole grains.” Helps lower.
4. Balance your diet
No matter how desperate you are for weight loss, you should never cut essentials out of your diet. Aim to include a variety of foods in your diet. Your diet should contain complex carbohydrates such as protein, fat, vegetables and whole grains.
